In Loving Memory of Johnny D

When I was 17 years old I fell in love with the restaurant business. I was able to buy my first restaurant In Washington, New Jersey in 1978 called the Hills Diner.

After meeting my wife, we moved to Middletown, NY to take over the Forum Diner and to start our family. In 1996, we opened the Johnny D’s Diner in Newburgh NY. It was first of its kind in the area with gorgeous neon lighting, shiny stainless steel all around and a porcelain facade, a large vestibule and beautiful mahogany booths and tables throughout. A true authentic 50’s style diner. The restaurant was opened 24-7 with an upscale diner menu.

Over the years, I learned so much about this business. As my children grew up, I worked with them every day to instill the knowledge I learned so that one day they can be successful as well. As a family we understand that this business requires hard work, dedication, and discipline. These are the values we still put forward every day for our guests.

After years in New York, my wife and I decided to move to Myrtle Beach because we fell in love with the area. A few years later we knew it was time to bring Johnny D’s to Myrtle Beach. We were excited to rebuild our brand and open Johnny D’s Waffles and Benedicts.

Johnny D’s Waffles is a creation of the best of the old and the best of the new. We are committed to quality, value, and complete guest satisfaction. When you walk through the door, you know that you are in for something special. The perfect spot for breakfast, lunch and cocktails. All our recipes are scratch made in house.

Each day he could be found in the dining rooms chatting with them,  learning where they are from, asking any first timers "what took you so long to get here."
